    Terms of use

    Swadnet is a free guide to Indian food, culture and hospitality around the world. Nobody is required to use it. If you do, these terms apply. They are written to be read.

    Who we are

    Swadnet is run by Prem Devkota, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. You can reach us at info@swadnet.com.

    Using the site

    You may browse Swadnet without an account. Some features, such as writing a review, saving places or claiming a business, need one. You must be 18 or over to create an account, give accurate details, and keep your sign in details to yourself.

    You agree not to misuse the site. That means, in particular, not to:

    • break the law, or post anything unlawful, abusive, hateful, sexually explicit or misleading;
    • post reviews about a business you own, work for or compete with, or reviews that were paid for;
    • copy the directory in bulk, or collect other people's details from it;
    • interfere with the site, probe it for weaknesses or overload it;
    • pretend to be someone else, or claim a business you have no authority to speak for.

    Listings are a guide, not a guarantee

    Most listings begin from open public data and have not been checked by us or confirmed by the business. Details such as opening hours, phone numbers, the type of food served and whether a place is still trading may be wrong or out of date. Please confirm anything that matters with the business before you travel.

    A listing is not a recommendation. Where a listing is marked as claimed or verified, that describes who manages the listing. It is not a statement about food safety, hygiene, allergens or quality. If you have an allergy or a dietary need, always ask the business directly.

    We are not a party to anything between you and a business, and we do not take bookings, orders or payments for them.

    If you own or manage a business

    You may claim your listing free of charge. By claiming it you confirm that you are authorised to act for the business and that what you add is accurate and yours to publish. You are responsible for keeping it up to date and for your replies to reviews.

    You can ask us to correct or remove a listing at any time. See our listings policy.

    What you post

    Reviews, posts, photographs and replies remain yours. By posting them you give us permission, free of charge and worldwide, to show, store, format and share them as part of Swadnet for as long as they stay on the site. You confirm you have the right to post them and that they follow our community rules.

    We may hold back, edit for layout or remove anything that breaks these terms or the community rules, and we may suspend an account that does so repeatedly. We check posts with automated tools; you can ask for a person to look again.

    Our content and open data

    The Swadnet name, design, writing and software belong to us or to those who license them to us. You may share links and short extracts with credit. Please do not reproduce the site or its design.

    Listing details that come from OpenStreetMap are available under the Open Database Licence, with credit to OpenStreetMap contributors. That licence, not these terms, governs that data.

    Calendar and cultural information

    Panchang, festival and tradition pages are offered for general information. Dates and timings vary by place and by tradition, and we work to get them right, but they are not religious, medical, legal or financial advice. For an occasion that matters, confirm with your own priest, family or community.

    Links and advertising

    Swadnet links to other websites and may carry advertising. We do not control those sites or advertisers and are not responsible for them. An advertisement is not an endorsement.

    Our responsibility to you

    Swadnet is free and is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will always be available, complete or free of error.

    Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.

    Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses that we could not reasonably have foreseen, for business losses, or for anything arising from your dealings with a listed business or from relying on a listing without checking it.

    Ending and changing

    You can stop using Swadnet and close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. We may change or withdraw features, and we may update these terms; when we do, we will change the date at the top, and tell members about significant changes before they take effect.

    Law and disputes

    These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts there.

    Please write to us first at info@swadnet.com. Most things can be put right quickly.
