    Listings policy

Swadnet lists Indian restaurants and food businesses so that people can find them. If your business is listed, you are in control of it. This page explains where the listing came from and what you can do.

    Where listings come from

Most listings start from OpenStreetMap, an open map of the world built by volunteers and published under the Open Database Licence. We take only named food businesses and only details already on that public map: name, location, type of business, cuisine and, where recorded, address, phone number, website and opening hours.

Outside India we list a business only where the public map records its cuisine as Indian. We never guess a cuisine from a name, and we do not copy listings from other directories or review sites.

Other listings are added by owners themselves.

    What an unclaimed listing means

A listing that came from open data is marked as unclaimed and credited to OpenStreetMap contributors. It has not been checked by us and is not an endorsement by us or by the business. We do not invent missing details: if a phone number or opening time is not on the public map, we leave it blank.

    Claim your listing

Claiming is free. Open your listing and choose Claim this listing. We ask for proof that you speak for the business. Once the claim is approved you can correct the details, add photographs and reply to reviews.

    Correct or remove a listing

Use the Report listing button on the page, or write to info@swadnet.com with the listing's web address. Tell us what is wrong, or that you want it removed.

    • Corrections to facts are made as soon as we can confirm them.
    • If you own the business and want the listing removed, we remove it. We do not charge and we do not ask for a reason.
    • If a business has closed, tell us and we will mark it closed or remove it.
    • We aim to act within seven days.

If you trade under your own name, the listing may contain your personal information. You have the rights set out in our privacy notice, including the right to object and to have it erased.

    What we do not do

    • We do not charge a business to be listed, corrected or removed.
    • We do not sell a better position in ordinary results. Any promoted placement is labelled as such.
    • We do not publish a hygiene, safety or quality rating of our own for an unclaimed listing.
    • We do not contact a listed business with marketing unless it has asked to hear from us.

    Improving the source

Because most details come from OpenStreetMap, a correction made there helps everyone who uses that map, not only Swadnet. Anyone can edit it at openstreetmap.org.
