Community rules
Swadnet is for sharing honest experience of food and hospitality. These rules keep it useful and fair, for diners and for the people whose livelihoods are being written about.
Write from your own experience
- Review only places you have actually visited or ordered from, and say what happened to you.
- Be specific and fair. Criticism is welcome. Insults are not.
- Do not review a business you own, work for, are related to or compete with.
- Do not accept, offer or ask for anything in return for a review.
- One review for each visit. Do not post the same review many times.
What is not allowed
- Anything unlawful, including threats, harassment and content that is illegal to share.
- Hatred or abuse aimed at a person or group because of religion, caste, ethnicity, nationality, sex, sexuality, disability or age.
- Sexually explicit or violent material.
- False statements of fact that could damage a person or business. If you say a place made you ill or broke the law, describe what you saw and experienced, not what you assume.
- Private information about anyone: home addresses, phone numbers, photographs of staff or other guests who have not agreed.
- Advertising, spam, links to unrelated sites, or content written by a machine and passed off as experience.
- Anything that infringes someone else's copyright or trade mark.
If you are replying as an owner
You may reply once to each review of your business. Stay courteous, do not reveal anything private about the reviewer, and do not offer anything in return for changing a review.
How posts are checked
Every review and post is checked by an automated system before it appears. Most appear straight away. Some are held for a person to look at, and some are refused. We may also remove something later if it is reported and found to break these rules.
We do not remove a review because a business dislikes it, and we do not rearrange reviews for payment.
Report something
Use the Report listing button on the page, or write to info@swadnet.com with the web address and what is wrong. If you believe content is illegal, or that it defames you or your business, say so and explain why; we treat those reports first and aim to act within two working days.
If your post was held or removed
You can ask for a person to review the decision by writing to info@swadnet.com. Tell us which post and why you think the decision was wrong. We will answer, and if we got it wrong we will put it back.
Repeated breaches
An account that breaks these rules repeatedly, or seriously, may be suspended or closed.
